Key Words or Phrases

As I prepare to go into deeper study of Hebrews 1:5, it’s been a challenge to find ways to explain things simply. I’m going to try to lay down some basic principles in hopes it will make it easier for me to refer to them later.

“Key Words or Phrases” are used throughout the Bible.

In Heb 1:5, it says,

Heb 1:5 For unto which of the angels said He at any time, Thou are my Son, this day have I begotten thee And again, I will be to Him a Father, and He shall be to me a Son?

Thou art my Son this day have I begotten thee? This is a “Key Phrase” referring to Psa 2:7. When this phrase is mentioned in a text, the meaning behind what Psalms 2:7 says should be brought to remembrance.

Psa 2:7 I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

Key Words or Phrases are intended to trigger remembrance to verses we need to be familiar with in order to understand what’s being presented in the text.

The Holy Spirit gave knowledge, information, hints and clues, and then strategically scattered them throughout the 66 books of the Bible, beginning with Genesis and ending with the book of Revelation.

Key Words or Phrases may not look like much, but they’re important.

To understand this scattering technique perhaps it would help to consider the seemingly random scattering of creation which results in a very high form of divine order.

Take a look at any scene from nature. Perhaps set your sights upon the various intricate patterns of the clouds in the sky, the multiplicity of the individual leaves on a tree, the unique patterns wood grain in the bark and look deeply at the complexity of colors or molecules that make up the whole scene.

Consider again the millions of cells in the human body. Up close, on a molecular level, many of these appear to have no order at all – perhaps scattered or jumbled – yet, there is a divine order to all of this. All anyone has to do to see God works in this way is step back a bit and look at the beauty and the magnificent complexity lyng behind it. We may ignore the complexity most of the time, but it’s still there.

Though the handiwork of God may seem to be randomly scattered and chaotic close up, in the hands of God who knows all, sees all and is Creator of all, these things become a part of a perfect order.

Even the Earth, viewed from space is absolutely beautiful, but we know there’s a gazillion screamin’ waheenies runnin’ about!

Yes, the scriptures and sayings of God’s Word can sometimes appear to be chaotic and dismaying at first, yet there is a mysteriousness order which reveals itself… in God’s Divine Time.

Peace out!
